Giving to GHVFHC
Written by njones

When you give to The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center (GHVFHC) a 501 c 3 non-profit community health center, you become a member of our family of dedicated physicians, skilled health care professionals and community leaders who make it possible for a family lacking health insurance to see a doctor and get the care they need. One in three Orange County residents do not have adequate access to primary healthcare resulting in far too many people at risk for becoming gravely ill from sicknesses that early detection and medicines could have prevented.

We invite you to join us as we bring compassionate care to every GHVFHC patient and ensure that we will always be ready with state-of-the-art medical facilities and quality affordable health care to serve our community.

With ample financial support, we can:

  • Keep our vulnerable community members healthy, able and productive at home, at work and in school;
  • Reduce the financial burden on our hospital emergency rooms;
  • Prevent diseases and conditions that might later require expensive specialty care; and
  • Effectively manage chronic illnesses.

Matching Gifts

Your contributions can have an even greater impact through an employee matching gift program. Many corporations sponsor matching gift programs through which they will match the charitable financial commitments of their employees.

If your employer has a matching gift program, obtain a matching gift application form from your human resources or personnel department. Many corporations also have this form available for downloading on their website.

Fill out the matching gift application form and send it to:

The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, Inc.
2570 Route 9W, Suite 10

Cornwall, NY 12518

Attn: Director of Development

Your employer will send the matching gift to GHVFHC, sometimes doubling or tripling the amount of your contribution!

Major Gifts

Many individuals seek creative and meaningful ways to show public support of GHVFHC; honor a family name, or memorialize a loved one. Gifts of all sizes may be unrestricted or designated for a special project to help GHVFHC deliver the highest standards of patient care by creating new initiatives, upgrading current programs, or renovating and expanding our facilities. We are always available to discuss the appropriate opportunity for your gift and will help to identify opportunities that meet your particular needs and interests.

Expansion Campaign

We ask that you take a leading role in building our region’s economic health and well being and become an investor in a solution to our health care crises. Our new center offers a meaningful and lasting way to recognize donors. Named gifts can pay tribute to or memorialize a family, a mentor, friend or business. They tighten the bonds of the community and transform a material building into a place of personal significance. At this time, we are engaged in the construction of two new sites; 127 Main Street in Highland Falls and 290 Broadway in Newburgh. If you are interested in a named gift please contact Regina McGrade, Director of Development at (845) 220-3152.

Planned Giving

As you plan your estate giving, please consider GHVFHC as a beneficiary. You can make a planned gift in the following ways:

  • Including GHVFHC in your will provides your estate with a tax deduction and an opportunity for you to leave a meaningful legacy.
  • Your gift of a charitable annuity or a charitable trust can give you and your loved ones income for life while also supporting GHVFHC in a meaningful way.
  • An individual retirement account (IRA) or a paid in full life insurance policy provide other ways to leave a legacy at GHVFHC.

In-Kind Donations

Often a gift of a product or service is the best alternative for both the donor and for us. For example, for all of our events we look for donations for printing, flower arrangements, food and beverages, etc. And, we are often in need of party supplies and gift incentives for volunteers, staff, friends and others who graciously help us with our mission.

Volunteer

Founded in 1967 by a group of volunteers, GHVFHC has a long history of volunteers. Volunteers at the Health Center or Encore Inc., are an integral part of the Health Center culture. They represent our core values. They are diverse, spanning a wide range in age, interest, and time commitment. What they all share is a generosity of spirit, the conviction that they can make a difference and a commitment to the community. What motivates our volunteers is the personal contribution they make from meaningful work that contributes directly to their community.

We welcome active hands-on participation from our supporters. The following wish list includes various ways your direct involvement can help fulfill a specific need of GHVFHC's foundation. Your valuable time and resources can have an added impact on our community.

  • Volunteer for our ROAR Program- Reach Out and Read, by reading to our pediatric patients in our ROAR reading nook.
  • Volunteer to serve on the Fundraising Committee.
  • Host an event at your home to help introduce GHVFHC to others who would be interested in learning about its work and mission.
  • Be a partner for Health Center outreach events.
  • Volunteer to work in the Encore Inc., Consign for a Cause store.
  • Gain community service hour credits for Jr. Volunteers.
